Course Summary
The course begins with a definition of Cloud Native, an overview of cloud computing delivery models and comparison to traditional software delivery systems. Students will then explore the case for a cloud-native system, including the increasing demand for technology teams to build software that is more secure, changeable, scalable and available than ever. The course explores the four major elements of a cloud-native development approach: DevOps, Microservices, Continuous Delivery and Containers. Moving on, students will explore the key architectural elements of an application built with a cloud-native approach - through hands-on lab work. Finally, the course covers best practices for migration from a software ecosystem that uses on-premises or hybrid on-prem/cloud infrastructure and delivery to a cloud-native ecosystem. At the end of the course, students will have a good knowledge of the principles, patterns, and technologies of a cloud-native approach, and the ability to migrate existing development efforts to use this approach.
This course is designed for technology professionals with a solid understanding of enterprise software development and at least an intermediate experience level in cloud development and delivery. The course will be instructor-led; a significant portion of the course time will be taken up in practical coding labs, and there will be time for Q&A and class discussion surrounding architecture and development approaches in this new application.
