Introduction to Android Development

Course Summary

The Introduction to Android Development training course is focused on helping existing software developers become mobile app developers using the Android platform.

The course begins with a brief history of Android and its architecture and what role Java plays in Android development as well as the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). The course then takes a deep dive into unit testing and debugging, the Android user interface, platform styles and layout. With the foundation laid, the course concludes with examining how to store and retrieve data, content providers, application fundamentals and utilizing best practices.

The course assumes students are familiar with Java, User Interface (UI) and key event programming concepts. However, students do not have to be Java programming experts to succeed in the course.
