The Beale Street Music Festival is a 3-day event with various musical performers on separate stages throughout the day. The Memphis Greek Festival offers sights, sounds, and foods associated with Greek heritage. Every year, Elvis fans from around the world make the trek to his home, “Graceland,” in order to celebrate his life and gift to music. Elvis Week occurs each year in mid-August, culminating on August 16, the date that he passed away in 1977.

Taking a stroll along legendary Beale Street is full of fantastic finds, such as BB King’s Blues Club and the infamous Blue Note Café where blues and jazz legends have played over the years. To see where some of the greats recorded their first albums, a trip to Sun Studio (first opened in 1950) is a great addition to any length stay.

When hunger strikes, it’s a good thing to be in the midst of such great foodie company. Some restaurants are staples of local Memphians, such as The Pancake Shop on Summer Avenue. Pancakes, grits, and downhome southern cooking will satisfy those hunger pangs. If a good ol’ fashioned burger is on the agenda, Huey Burger in midtown is the place to be.
